Junior Research Fellowship | BE/B. Tech degree holders in engineering discipline with valid GATE score
Or Candidates with B.Pharm degree and having qualified GPAT Or Candidates with B.Tech in Biotechnology with valid GATE score and subject to securing a minimum 85.00 percentile in GATE. M. Sc or equivalent degree with minimum 55% marks for General and OBC candidates; 50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically & Visually handicapped candidates and Ph. D. degree holders who have passed Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991. |
Rs. 31,000/- per month for two years. Contingency Grant: Rs. 20,000/- per fellow per annum will be provided to the University/Institution. On completion of two years as JRF, the stipend may be increased to Rs. 35,000/- per month for the 3rdand subsequent year, on the basis of assessment of Fellows’ research progress/achievements through interview by an Expert Committee | Through NET conducted by CSIR at National level. |
Senior Research Fellowships(SRF) |
BPharm/BVSc/BSc(Ag) or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and one publication in SCI Journal and should have completed at least three years research experience; OR MPharm/MVSc/MSc(Ag) or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and one publication in SCI Journal and should have at least one year research experience. A certain number of SRF’s are awarded each year by CSIR directly to those possessing the following qualification and experience: M. Sc, B.E., B. Tech with minimum 60% marks and at least two years of post M. Sc., B. Tech., B.E., research experience as evidence from fellowship/ associateship or traineeship and published papers in standard refereed journals. M.E., M. Tech. or equivalent degree in Engineering/ Technology with minimum 60% marks. M.B.B.S. or B.D.S. (with 1 year of internship) with first division. or equivalent degree with minimum 60% marks and at least three years of research experience. Research workers who have had requisite training in methods of research along with above qualification and who have proved their aptitude for original research are eligible for this Fellowship |
A SRF-DIRECT in a science/engineering/medical & pharmaceutical, veterinary discipline is entitled to a stipend of Rs. 35,000/- pm for the entire tenure of fellowship. | Applications for SRF are normally invited every year on all India basis through press advertisement. The prescribed application form is printed along with the advertisement in the Employment News usually during the month of April and October every year. Application proforma duly completed and forwarded through the proposed Supervisor and Head of the Department/Institution should be submitted within the prescribed date along with a Demand Draft for the amount indicated in the advertisement. |
CSIR – Nehru Science Postdoctoral Research Fellowship | Ph. D. degree holders within three years of award of Ph. D degree, or those who have submitted Ph. D thesis are eligible. Applicants who are about to submit Thesis are also eligible to apply, but their selection will be subject to the condition that they would have submitted the thesis before the expiry of the validity of the award offer. Applicants should have research publications in high impact SCI journals. Though CSIR Nehru Science Postdoctoral Research Fellowship is open to Indian nationals, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), a certain number (upto 20%) of fellowships may be offered to foreign nationals. | Consolidated Rs. 65,000/- per month + HRA and Contingency Grant : Rs. 3.0 lakh per annum. 25% of the Contingency Grant can be used for domestic and international travel including per diem expenses. | Eligible candidates can apply in the prescribed format, available on the website, any time of the year. What about Age Limit?
For JRF : 28 years (upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years for SC/ ST/OBC, Physically handicapped/Visually handicapped and females.
For SRF : 32 years, relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST, women, physically handicapped and OBC.
For Nehru Science Postdoctoral Research Fellowship : 32 years, relaxable up to 5 years in case of SC/ST/OBC/ Physically handicapped and women candidates.
