Only Indian nationals are eligible for the award of “DBT-Postdoctoral Fellowship for pursing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and Applied Biology. The Postdoctoral Fellowship is a purely temporary assignment. In exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the fellowship may be extended, subject to availability of grant.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Science or M.D. or M. S. in any area of medicine with research interest in Biology and Biotechnology and possess a good academic record. Persons with publications in reputed scientific journals will be given preference. Those who have already submitted thesis in Ph. D./ M/D./ M.S. may also apply.
Benefits of scholarship/Award
Rs. 15,000/- per month (except those who are not yet awarded Ph.D. degree). The fellows would also be entitled to HRA as per the DBT guidelines. Fellowship is likely to be revised.
