 National Doctoral Fellowship is meant to attract highly qualified and motivated candidates to pursue doctoral degree and offer themselves to teaching positions in the Technical Education System. Its objective is also to provide research support to bright young candidates for pursuing exciting and innovative research in the field of Technical Education. 50 Fellowships are offered on yearly basis through host institution (where the Fellow is registered).

All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) Statutory Body under Government of India.

Eligibility criteria

Those who have already secured admission as full time candidates and are in the first year of their doctoral programme in the selected host institutions are eligible. Students registered at specific institutions would be eligible for the award of N.D.F. For list of Institutions, visit Website.

Benefits of scholarship/Award

Scholarship : Rs. 12,000/- per month

Contingency Grant : Rs. 25,000/- per annum

Overhead charges : Rs 20,000/- per annum

Important Dates:

The notification about the scholarship is published in leading news papers during July each year.As well as it is notified on AICTE official website.

Terms and Conditions

Those who satisfy the screening criteria as decided by AICTE, will have to appear for an interview sometime in September/October. Final selection is made from merit list prepared on the basis of candidates’ performance in interview.

Progress is monitored by an Expert Committee of AICTE, which if found unsatisfactory ( or candidate fails to complete Ph. D. in the specified time of 3 +1 years) fellowship will be terminated without assigning any reasons.
